2020 서울문화재단 우수예술작품기록지원 전통분야 선정작 타악기 연주자, 월드 뮤지션 김소라의 대표작 <비가 올 징조>의 여정을 담고 있는 작품집. <비가 올 징조> 작품 초연부터 국제 진출까지의 경험을 기록하여 연주자의 활동을 되짚어 보고 국내에 알려지지 않은 해외 유명 음악 축제 정보를 소개하는 안내서의 역할을 포함한다.
전통음악가로서 국내외를 넘나들며 활발히 활동하고 있는 김소라의 음악적 가치관과 예술적 신념을 담은 에세이이기도 하다.

미국 브루클린 National Sawdust 극장에 초대 된 한국의 타악기 연주자 김소라의 컨템포러리 프로젝트의 일환이다. <장단: 숨의 대화>는 한국의 장단과 현대무용 그리고 선율을 통해 같은 공간에서 긴밀하게 끊임없이 연결되어 서로 이해하고 함께 호흡하고 있다는 의미를 담고 있다. 숨 (BREATH)은 모든 것의 시작이며 끝이다. 서로 다른 세계, 시대에서 외롭고 힘든 시기를 보내고 있는 인류에게 함께 숨 쉬고 모두가 연결되어 있다는 메시지를 전하고 있다. 그동안 실험적이고 다채롭게 한국의 타악을 알려온 김소라는 현대무용가 김영미 교수, 타악기 연주자 현승훈, 피리 연주자 홍지혜, 현대무용가 홍경화와의 협업을 통해 한국의 컨템포러리 작품을 선보인다.
Korean percussionist Kim So Ra has been invited to bring her contemporary project to Brooklyn’s National Sawdust stage. Kim So Ra, who has been presenting Korean traditional percussion in experimental and varied ways, will be presenting a collaborative production with modern dancer Kim Young Mi, percussionist Hyun Seung Hun, piri player Hong Ji Hye, and modern dancer Hong Kyeong Hwa. People everywhere from all walks of life are facing a lonely and difficult time, but we’re all breathing the same air and we’re all connected. Through their rhythms, movements, and melodies, the artists pointedly work and breathe together, connected intimately in the same space. Everything starts and ends with the breath

From a theater in Seoul, percussionist Kim So Ra experiments with rhythm and movement alongside contemporary dancers Kim Young Mi and Hong Kyeong Hwa, percussionist Hyun Seung Hun, and piri (bamboo reed flute) player Hong Ji Hye for the short film Jang Dan: Breath Conversation, premiering at National Sawdust’s Digital Discovery Festival on the eve of Seollal, the Korean Lunar New Year.
The five artists perform in harmony, weaving an intimate choreography in this immersive visual experience. Everything starts and ends with the breath.
Jang Dan: Breath Conversation is presented by National Sawdust in partnership with the Korean Cultural Center New York, and will be co-streamed on the National Sawdust website and the KCCNY's YouTube channel.
