2016 Babelmed Music Festival
Adorned with a mysterious halo and fabulous ecstatic off-takes, the compositions of the South Korean duo Bud encompass within their expressivity an intense range of human emotions. The melodic percussion of the ancestral yanggum, this struck-stringed instrument of the family of zither table, dub the twirling beat of the janggu, a Korean hourglass-shaped drum from shamanic rituals, used to pour lush musicality and authentic bravura pieces. At the edge of centuries-old traditions and contemporary music, the female duo masterfully interprets creations of highly evocative power, both innovative and rooted in a vivid legacy.
